
KISUMU, 6TH FEBRUARY 2018: Nyanza Police Boss Leonard Katana has appealed to locals to exercise restraint and allow normal operation of businesses even as the residents took to the street to demand justice on Miguna Miguna.
He says they are closely monitoring the events in Kisumu and Migori adding that he has issued a directive to all police posts across the region to observe the rule of law as they manage crowd trouble.
He has called on motorists to use alternative routes to avoid confrontation with demonstrators in Kisumu and Migori where several roads were barricaded.
"I want to urge those using Isebania-Migori road that the we are trying to see how the bridge that has been blocked by the youths can be opened. For the time being I want urge motorists to avoid it until the situation has been normalized. I have also heard that some in parts of Kisumu there are bonfires lit on the road and we are also trying to address without use of unnecessary force."
