Former US President Barrack Obama and President Donald Trump are not in the guest list for the Royal Wedding between Prince Harry and Megham Markle who stars in the American legal drama Suits.
While Donald Trump's not being invited is not much of a shocker, many expected the Obamas to be invited following their long standing friendship with Prince Harry.
The Kensington Palace however issued a statement yesterday saying that politicians will not be invited to the wedding, at least not in their official capacity. Not even the British PM Theresa May is invited to the event.
"It has been decided that an official list of political leaders -- both UK and international -- is not required for Prince Harry and Ms. Markle's wedding," a Kensington Palace spokesman said. "Her Majesty's Government was consulted on this decision, which was taken by the royal household."
The statement says that the royal family is restricting the guest list to family and friends who have been known to the couple for a long time.
A White House official confirmed neither Trump nor first lady Melania were invited; nor was Prime Minister May, Downing Street said.
The couple have however promised to visit the Obamas whom they consider close friends soon after their wedding which will be happening in six weeks.
