Kisumu court orders arrest of Raila sister

KISUMU 13th Nov. 2017: A Kisumu magistrate has ordered the arrest of former Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga and Kisumu Senator Fred Outa. The arrest warrant against Ruth Odinga who is also a sister to NASA principal Raila Odinga and her co-accused was issued after the two failed to show up in court for a case hearing. 

"A warrant of arrest has been issued against the two because they have gone against the orders of the court,” said Chief Magistrate Julius Ng’arng’ar

The two politicians are facing several charges emanating from an incident in which rowdy youths stormed a session at the Kisumu County Headquarters where the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) were carrying out a training exercise for election officials.

The charges include malicious of property and obstructing IEBC officials from conducting their official business. The two were charged on 23rd of October 2017 and released on a Ksh. 500,000 personal bond.
