What You Need to Know About the 1990 Peugeot 205 that Stunned Racers at the Murang'a TT

By Daniel Ominde on Tue, 06/03/2018 - 08:30

A 28 year old "dudu" beating beating an Audi S3, A Mitsubishi Lancer Evo V, and  a Subaru Impreza GC8 STI is unimaginable. Especially if the dudu is a Peugeot 205.

That however is exactly what happened at the Murang'a TT on Sunday. Joel Anyonga steered his 1990 Peugeot 205 to third place averaging 3.195 minutes for the three stages of the race. In the car that is now a favorite among the underground racing circles and christened "The Bullet", Anyonga perfectly steered in the wet track to come out ahead of Bharat Pitrola in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo V.

Leroy Mwamba's Subaru Impreza GC1 was also no match for the oldie and neither was Empy Wachira's GC8 STI. Another Subaru compatriot who was beaten by the dudu was Lamas Span in a Forester SG9.

Peugeot compatriot Stanley Oyugi driving a 406 Hdi came in 14th ahead of 5 other drivers.

"The Bullet" has since Sunday been making headlines across the underground motorworld's social media pages with comments such as the one bellow.

The Sunday race also brought to the fore risks involved in the underground races after several cars were involved in near-fatal accidents. Here is one such concern:
