Government Withdraws David Ndii's Passport

By URBAN RADIO NE… on Tue, 06/02/2018 - 13:47

NAIROBI, 6TH FEBRUARY 2018: The government has suspended the passport of Nasa's Chief Strategist Dr. David Ndii as the government intensifies it's crackdown on opposition figures.

In a letter addressed to Dr. Ndii by the Director of Immigration Services Dr. Gordon Kihalangwa, the immigration department says that the withdrawal is in line with the Immigration Act 2011.

“Pursuant to Section 31 (1) (2) of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act 2011, you are hereby notified that passport number C051258 which is in your possession remains suspended forthwith,” read part of the letter.

The letter however did not specify exactly how Dr. Ndii was in contravention of the provisions of the act to warrant the withdrawal.

Dr. Ndii now has 21 days to return his passport to Nyayo House or risk having it rendered invalid.

Reacting to the letter via his Twitter account, Dr. Ndii alluded that the Dr. Kihalangwa was acting out of sycophancy instead of making a decision based on provisions of the law.

“Not citing reason as required. Sycophants are born, not made,” he posted on Twitter.

The government has since Wednesday last week launched a mega-crackdown on leading opposition figures following the swearing-in of Nasa leader Raila Odinga as 'The People's President,' an act the government termed as treason.
