A senior police officer from Nairobi is the latest victim of flash floods that have wrecked havoc in several parts of the country since the beginning of the rainy season.
The officer identified as Charles Kyale Mwau who was the Commandant of the Diplomatic Police Unit in Nairobi had his car swept away by a flooded river along Sultan Hamud - Kasikeu Road in Makueni County. He was in the company of his brother who also died in the accident.
Makueni County Commissioner Mohamed Maalim confirmed the incident saying the bodies were recovered and airlifted by a police chopper to a Nairobi Morgue.
Maalim cautioned motorists against driving in flooded roads during this rainy season.
