Riots Erupt in Kisumu, Kibera over Miguna Detention

By Daniel Ominde on Wed, 28/03/2018 - 12:09

KISUMU, 28TH MARCH 2018: Riots have erupted in Kisumu and Kibira following the continued detention of self-styled NRM General Dr. Miguna Miguna at the JKIA.

The most affected spots are the Kondele roundabout which is known for violent confrontations between rioters and police officers.

The protestors chanted “No Miguna, No peace!” and carried placards demanding justice for the lawyer.

At Ahero market which is Miguna's home constituency of Nyando, the road leading to Nairobi and Southern parts of Nyanza has been barricaded with bonfires making flow of vehicles impossible.

This morning the state failed to produce Miguna Miguna at the High Court with Miguna's lawyers led by James Orengo asking Justice George Odunga to issue tough sanctions against senior state officers involved in continuous contempt of court orders.
