NAIROBI 20th Nov. 2017: Nasa leader Raila Odinga has dismissed the Supreme Court ruling that upheld the re-election of Uhuru Kenyatta as President of the Republic of Kenya.

In a statement sent to newsroom by Mr. Odinga's communication adviser Salim Lone, the opposition coalition NASA reiterates that they do not recognize Uhuru's government.

"We in NASA had repeatedly declared before this supreme court ruling today that we consider this government to be illegitimate and do not recognize it," said Mr. Lone in a statement sent on behalf of Raila Odinga.

Mr. Odinga further alleges that the ruling was not a product of the judges' free will but rather a conclusion made under duress adding that he sympathizes with the judges.

"This position has not been changed by the court ruling, which did not come as a surprise. It was a decision taken under duress. We do not condemn the court, we sympathize with it."

The bench of six judges who had the two petitions challenging President Kenyatta's re-election unanimously dismissed both petitions with no orders to cost.
